Persona 4 - Progress 7 Part 2

Continuing from my last blog post.

I was thinking if Fox is mad that day, I would do the Lovers S.Link instead, but today its the complete opposite, so I cleared the entire underground area and also saved Naoto.

BOSS : Shadow Naoto
Persona used : Kinki, Raphael (Both with Mediarama and no particular elemental weakness)
The strategy I used is to keep that shadow's hit rate down while keeping Yukiko's evasion rate up. That way, the abusing brat will have a hard time trying to exploit Yukiko's weakness to Ice. Its rather simple really.

Quite easy, 1st try defeated him, though it gone abit messy when my MC got critical hit, again, by Blade of Fury; and that nearly killed poor Teddie.
Otherwise, pretty easy with a little underlevelled members. (I brought Chie, Kanji and Teddie)
Retired after that.

Persona used : Ganga
Although he was pretty easy boss to do, unfortunately I had the 3rd GAME OVER because first Teddie got critical hit from Assault Dive, then Rampage critted me, then the next one killed me. I thought, heck this is not funny at all. 2nd attempt is easy enough.

Also, I cleared the entire new dungeon in just one go before retiring.

BOSS : Mitsue the Hero, Shadow Mitsuo
Persona used : Dis (Mind Charge + Agidyne), Gabriel (Energy Shower), Triglav (Me Patra)
He's pretty easy except for a few minor hiccups. First, his 2nd Evil Smile hit everyone but LUCKILY my MC didn't lose the turn, so I switched to Triglav for Me Patra. Second was when hes close to dying. His normal attack critted Yukiko, followed by Megidola. But hes close to death so I just attacked him. :P

Persona 4 - Progress 5

Continuing from my last save.

Rescue Operandi. Star 2.
I managed to clear Rise's dungeon. I was about to use a Soma to move on to confront her when I had an idea. On previous experience, after her shadow boss, the entire party is restored so I wonder whether I can do that with the "almost-ran-out-of-SP" party. And it worked! Money saved!

BOSS : Rise's Shadow
She's pretty easy, meh. Followed by.....

BOSS : Teddie's Shadow
Compared to my previous experience, this is quite tough because I forgot to stock myself with Mouthwashes. Fortunately the MC is equipped with an accessory that causes ailment to last half that long. So instead of 4 wasted turns, its down to just 2 turns before hes recovered from Silence status. (That shadow sometimes uses Foolish Whisper.)

The worst case scenario occurs when I'm close to defeating the shadow. Foolish Whisper this time hit Yukiko, which made it harder so I did my very best to bring him down as soon as I can.

Rise has been saved!

Continuing from where I last stated, I went after the extra boss with ease. There is one instance where he does Rampage and Chie got hit 3 times and fainted, otherwise it went pretty well. (I'm still surprised that even at level 24, without Tarunda his Rampage still can kill with 3 hits.)
Retired after that due to insufficient funds to restore SP.

BOSS : Shadow Kanji
Persona used : Rakshasha (Media+Tarunda+Phys resist) and High Pixie (Elec immune+Sukunda)
Wow, first time I went after him was no joke. Although his charged Swift Strike missed both Yosuke and me, it nearly killed Yukiko with a critical hit of 112x2, then by the time my turns come, both Yukiko and Chie fainted, so I restarted.
2nd try, not that easy also. Damage output was pretty sluggish due to me spamming Media. When he does the second Forbidden Murmur, I decided," Oh screw this, I'll go out on him and forget using items to remove Poison." (It causes Poison on boys only, including the MC) Funny thing that Chie just kicks him and hes down. :S

Personas used : Titania (Diarama + Sukunda), King Frost (Tarunda + Ice Abs).
What I did is to create 2 key Personas. Once in a while I let Kanji guard if I need to reduce its ATK power. One time it did a crit Single Shot on me, followed by Bufula which ACTUALLY healed me lol. In the end it got abit messy with Kanji getting hit as usual, but with Tarunda effect gone his HP gone down from 407 to 94 HP. But I'm really close to defeating it so I switched to King Frost and Bufula to do the final bid on him.

End of my game diary. I think I should keep a note of events so that I don't get confuded next time.

Exploring the new dungeon unlocked through a series of people. I cleared the remaining floors of Yukiko's Castle before heading on to Kanji's. I managed to clear about 7 floors (including the midboss) before retiring due to lack of money.
EDIT : It looks like my Justice S.L is at 3 instead of 2 when I resumed it.

Exploration.

Cleared the rest of the floors in Kanji's bathhouse dungeon. Speaking of that, thats where I got GAME OVER twice ingame. Once wasn't really a GAME OVER, but the MC is almost down and the rest of the crew was dead. (It happened on 19/5 on 6th floor) The second time was on the very last floor, with the stupid beetle using Mamudo and killed the MC instantly. =.=ll

I decided later when I come on again its the time to do Yukiko's extra boss (cause from my previous experience hes very hard even in Normal mode.) before going ahead to save Kanji unless I have insufficient yen to restore. (I only had 9k left lol.)

Persona 4 - New Beginning

I decided to start a new beginning to my Persona 4, taking with it the knowledge I need to get through the game. The gameplay will be on Normal mode.

Persona used : Archangel, Eligor, Slyph

I know that I could've fused Senri since it blocks Fire attacks and learns Media. Even that requires 3 grinding levels and I don't want that. So I created Archangel and Slyph for Media, and Eligor for debuff.
I was surprised on how easily I can defeat her though, compared with first few tries on my very first gameplay.

Yukiko has been saved and has faced her true self.

Persona 4 - Margeret : Original attempt team revisited

Now to reanalyze my first team to ever down Margeret (Chie + Kanji + Teddie).

This time slightly easier now with a calculating move of when to use Debilitate and Maraku effectively.

Once again, the tactics. I keep Debil Margeret until the last stage, then use it only after she uses Narukami. Depending on situation, most of the time I'll use a charged Hassou Tobi, or a charged Ziodyne by Kohryu, or Salvation by either the same persona or Sandalphon (both with SM). As always Chie is assigned to do charged God's Hand all-round. Kanji's assignment is the same, Matarukaja, Super Sonic item and Ziodyne/Primal Force. I use Teddie's Marakukaja and Mediarahan, Bufudyne only when its safe.

Tactics aside. Compared to my 1st try, the 2nd try on the first team was definitely better than the last, other than Teddie having to whitstand the fatal blow of the 1st Hassou Tobi. Speaking of Hassou Tobi, that skill was missed TWICE during the fight! Fortunately, the same skill that made a fatal blow to Margeret managed to get a CRITICAL hit, so I was more than happy for compensation from my last miss.

All in all, I feel that the first team that downed Margeret is definitely the best party set up to face her cause in damage PoV, its the fastest. Plus with 11 Super Sonics I'll be able to keep the party fully buffed. As long as I'm not making any careless mistakes, I'll be fine in beating Margaret. :P

Yet I'm extremely impressed with one of the player who beats her down in just 10 turns, even before she uses Morning Star + Diarahan combo. Here's the vid, there's also the English version of it so do check it out.

Persona 4 - Margeret : 2 new combination wins

Okay, here's an update regarding about defeating Margaret with 2 different combinations.

Before that, some changes. I cleared the true final dungeon and found 2 key items, a shirt that grants 100SP and another that gives +100HP, with both of them having good avoidance. I equip the MC with 100SP shirt and Yukiko with 100HP shirt, and not intending to replace them with the ultimate armour. (Great armour but avoidance rate is quite low.)

I did make 3 stops onto Death and collected 3 ultimate armours. It goes to Yosuke, Kanji and Chie.

1st stop, I bring in Yosuke, Chie and Teddie (Chie is my mandatory character for her awesome attacks.), thus making it the advantage taker team. (All Ma-kaja style)

As hard as it sounds, it took me about 25 minutes to go through this fight, and through the end its even harder than the 1st attempt cause Yosuke kept on dying with Hassou Tobi. :P

Me : The usual Debil on Margeret and Powered Hassou Tobi. I don't need to use my uncle Kohryu for Salvation cause I discovered that the damage to Teddie using Thunder Reign is not that high, given that Margeret is debuffed, then she'll cast Divine Wind, which Teddie can weather that easily. PLUS with Yosuke immune to wind, only me and Chie will take the full force of that attack.
Also, at the last stage, I actually calculated her moves in order to properly cast Debilitate. The most effective would be when she uses Narukami/Divine Wind. In exchange, the party will take some spike damage. (Remember, she deals about 250+ onto members without debuff and with Maraku)

Yosuke : Masukukaja (マハスクカジャ) and Brave Blade (ブレイフザーバー). Garudyne (ガルダイン) is only used during the last stage when Margeret uses Hassou Tobi. He died twice by that skill though. :P

Chie : The usual charged God's Hand.

Teddie : Because Kanji is not in the team, I had to use both Marakukaja and Matarukaja using Teddie, or sometimes after him, I'll cast Marakukaja.

Next, I formed a team consisting of Chie, Kanji and Yukiko. No special name I can think of though. :P

As hard as it sounds, its actually much tougher than the last 2. It took me a heck load of 30 minutes but still managed to beat Margeret before she did something crazy.

Me : The usual Debilitate and charged Hassou Tobi. Because Teddie is not in the team, there's a need to cast Marakukaja often using either Trumpeter or Mahakala. Also, like the 2nd attempt, during the last stage I casted Debil only when she does Narukami/Divine Wind, while watching for damage spikes.

Chie : You know the stuff, except she does all round unlike the 1st try. Also equipped her with an accessory that increases HP by 30%, making her HP skyrocket to 717HP. But thats for the fun of it. :P

Kanji : Matarukaja and supplying Masukukaja using Super Sonic. I have about 11 of these so I decided to utilize them. Otherwise Primal Force spam.

Yukiko : Salvation and Agidyne when its safe to do so. 1 or 2 times she dishes out Diamond Shield, also if it is safe. Also equipped with Chakra Ring to cut her magic cost by half. Guard after Margeret used Meltdown.

Persona 4 - Hidden boss : Margeret

Recently I've done fighting with the secret boss after missing the initial event completely during my 2nd run. I intended to do that on Easy mode, but completely forgot to do the initial event. As the result, I had to go through a 3-week excursion down on my 3rd gamethrough, this time in Normal mode to make things interesting a lil.

And wow, she is quite a nutter even in Normal mode. After discovering that my defense team (Yosuke, Chie and Yukiko) didn't work out quite well, I subbed Kanji for Yosuke, Teddie for Yukiko and keep my Chie. (Thus the heavy-damage artilery party is formed.)

Still, she's pretty hard to get down with 15k HP. The 1st time I tried was before I cleared the true final dungeon and all characters have their ultimate weapon (but not ultimate armor). The entire fight took about 20 minutes. :P

First 5 minutes was easy, took her 2 turns before she starts a cycle of Personas. The 1st cycle looks roughly like this:

Fire (Meltdown) > Ice (Coctyus Pain, watch it if you use Yukiko) > Elec (Narukami, Teddie users, beware.) > Wind (Divine Wind) > Mind Charge (all-immune) > Megidolaon > repeat.
A Mind Charged Megidolaon from her is bearable since it does about 350+ damage unbuffed.

Also I can tell the personas shes using. Siegfried (I thought it would be Surt but Siegfried? *bangs head*), Loki, Oukininushi (Unlikely but plausible candidate as well, I'm thinking of Thor.), Cu Chulain, Oberon (o.oll), Ardha. Each time she uses one magic skill, she'll be immune to that particular magic.

Me : Debil (ランダマイザー)Margeret at all times, Yoshi's charged Hassou Tobi (八艘跳び) (it does 200 damage per hit, ouch!), Kohryu's half-cost Salvation (メシアライザー) if Teddie needs to guard.

Kanji : Mataru (マハタルカジャ) buff, Primal Force (イノセントタック) spam.

Chie : All-round charged God's Hand. (ゴッドハンド)

Teddie : Healer and Maraku (マラクカジャ), Bufudyne when its safe to strike.(ブフダイン)

Once I brought down her HP considerably, she used Morning Star (明けの明星)using Helel, then Diarahan using Ardha, so its back to square one, except that she takes half damage to all elements. :/

After about 5% HP loss, she does the cycle again, and this time she struck Teddie with the weakness using Thunder Reign (poor him) followed by Divine Wind, cause she'll start the cycle from the last time she stopped before using Morning Star.

Then comes 50%. She still does the same cycle EXCEPT instead of Mind Charge + Megidolaon, she'll start to use Power Charge + Hassou Tobi! At that moment I ACCIDENTALLY switched the wrong Persona to Trumpeter instead of Yoshi (Yoshi's immune to Physical), but SOMEHOW I managed to survive the collosal damage with 38 HP left. Also thats the time where its really hard to bring her down, but eventually my uncharged Hassou Tobi does the final strike against her.

All in all, Margeret hits hard if shes not debuffed. (She hits 300+ damage per strike using any 4 magic all-hit skills, without buff/debuff), and towards the end thats when the real fun of survival begins. But all in all, even when the team was abit underlevelled (I was level 82, Kanji and Teddie 77 each, Chie 78) and without the ultimate armours, I still managed to beat Margeret with roughly less than 20 turns to go before she does the 9999 Megidolaon. (I lost count, ok?)

Probably I'll try Margeret again with different team combinations once I've got them to at least level 80 or more. (I should clear the true end dungeon, got about 3 floors to go.) If I manage to beat one using another combo, I'll definitely post here and compare it with this try.

Back to business.

After a year-long freeze on this blog, its high time I should revive it.

From there on, it will focus on church sermons, game theories, schools and other interesting stuffs that has happened into this blog. :P
